Diplopia refers to the symptom of double vision. Double images are classified as being along the same axis, or as horizontal, vertical, or diagonal relative to one another. The causes of diplopia are very broad1. Diplopia usually does not occur as an isolated symptom, but rather as part of a symptom complex characteristic of the underlying cause.
