The Cavum septi pellucidi refers to the gap between the layers of the Septum pellucidum. If the extent of the gap extends dorsally beyond the Foramen interventriculare, it is referred to as a Cavum vergae.

Epidemiology

A Cavum septi pellucidi is present in 97% of all newborns[^1] and generally regresses over time, but can still be observed in about 10% of adults[^1].

Clinical Relevance

This is an anatomical variant that has been associated in the literature with developmental delays and psychiatric disorders[^1].
