A brainstem cavernoma is a cavernous malformation localized in the brainstem.

Risk of hemorrhage

Cavernomas at this location have an annual hemorrhage risk of 4 to 5 % per lesion each year1.

Imaging

The imaging gold standard for diagnosing brainstem cavernomas is MRI.
