Black-blood sequences are a group of MRI sequences whose common feature is suppression of the signal from flowing blood. As a result, the blood within the vessels appears dark in the resulting image, while the surrounding static tissue (e.g., vessel walls) is depicted with high signal intensity and therefore appears bright.
