The bifrontal Craniotomy is used as an approach to pathologies in the anterior cranial fossa. This approach also provides access to pathologies extending dorsally into the suprasellar region or into the nasal cavities.
Indications
Bifrontal craniotomy is used particularly for tumors as well as CSF fistulas in the anterior cranial fossa[^1] [^2].
Positioning
For optimal positioning, the patient should be placed supine with approximately 15° of head extension, without lateral rotation, with the head secured in the Mayfield head holder[^1].
Skin Incision
Typically, a bifrontal skin incision is made, extending from tragus to tragus and located directly behind the hairline. The galea aponeurotica and temporalis muscle should remain intact so that they can later be used for duraplasty[^1].
