Baastrup disease is characterized by back pain caused by contact between the Spinous processes (Baastrup phenomenon), with irritation of the periosteum and surrounding soft tissues.
Symptoms
Patients frequently report midline pain with or without paravertebral pain, usually also interspinous pain, aggravated by lordosis and worsening when standing or walking, without radiation into the lower extremities[^1].
Treatment
Typically, symptoms improve following interspinous injection of local anesthetics and steroids.
