The artery of Percheron is an anatomical variant in which the paramedian blood supply to both thalami arises from the proximal segment of the Posterior cerebral artery on one side.
Clinical relevance
The blood supply to the Thalamus is subject to considerable anatomical variability, and in the presence of an artery of Percheron, its occlusion can result in classic bilateral paramedian thalamic infarctions[^1].
