Atlanto-occipital dislocations can be classified into three different types, according to a publication from 1986 by Vincent Traynelis et al.[^1].
Classification
Type | Description |
Type I | Anterior dislocation of the occiput relative to the atlas. |
Type II | Longitudinal dislocation (distraction). |
Type III | Posterior dislocation of the occiput relative to the atlas. |
