The Anand classification was published in 2002 and is used to classify thoracic disc herniations[^1].
Classification
Grade | Description |
Grade 1 | Primarily thoracic central (axial) pain |
Grade 2 | Primarily thoracic radicular pain |
Grade 3A | Significant thoracic axial and radicular pain |
Grade 3B | Significant axial pain with lower-extremity pain, with or without thoracic radicular pain. |
Grade 4 | Myelopathy but no significant motor weakness |
Grade 5 | Significant motor weakness |
