Vagal schwannoma (WHO Grade 1)

Synonyms
Vagal schwannoma, Vagal nerve schwannoma
ICD-11
XH98Z3

Vagal schwannomas are Schwannomas that arise from the Vagus nerve.

Localization

Vagal schwannomas predominantly occur in the cervical region and may also occur intracranially in rare cases.

Intracranial

On MRI, intracranial vagal schwannomas often closely resemble vestibular schwannomas. Intraoperatively, however, intracranial vagal schwannomas usually show cranial displacement of the lower cranial nerve group, whereas in vestibular schwannomas, this group is generally displaced caudally due to the direction of growth.
