Thrombectomy, also referred to as thrombembolectomy, is the surgical or endovascular removal of a thrombus from a blood vessel. In the cerebral vasculature, thrombectomy is performed endovascularly in most cases.
Indication
Thrombectomy is effective in patients with a small cerebral infarction and proximal vessel occlusion up to 24 hours after symptom onset1.
