Thrombectomy

Thrombectomy, also known as thromboembolectomy, refers to the surgical or endovascular removal of a thrombus from a blood vessel. In the cerebral vessels, thrombectomy is performed endovascularly in most cases.

Indication

Thrombectomy is effective in patients with a small cerebral infarction and proximal vessel occlusion up to 24 hours after symptom onset1.
