Squamous suture

Last edit by Alaric Steinmetz on

The squamous suture is a fibrous scale-like suture on the skull and connects the upper edge of the temporal bone with the lower edge of the parietal bone[^1].

Anatomy

Anteriorly, the squamous suture continues into the sphenosquamosal suture and posteriorly into the parietomastoid suture. The naming of the suture is derived from the fact that the squamous suture runs in an overlapping manner like roof tiles. The bone mass of the temporal bone overlaps that of the parietal bone.
