Spinal nerve

A spinal nerve is the nerve assigned, via its anterior and posterior roots, to one side of a specific spinal cord segment.

Anatomy

The emerging spinal nerves are divided into 8 cervical (C1–C8), 12 thoracic (Th1–Th12), 5 lumbar (L1–L5), and 5 sacral spinal nerves (S1–S5), as well as 1 coccygeal spinal nerve, the nervus coccygeus.
