The parietal tuber is a bony prominence on the outer surface of the Os parietale and represents an important superficial anatomical landmark. It marks the area where ossification of the Os parietale begins.
Clinical relevance
During classic burr-hole trephination for a pronounced chronic subdural hematoma, the parietal tuber is frequently used as an anatomical landmark for the parietal burr hole.
