The nervus nasopalatinus is a purely sensory nerve branch of the nervus maxillaris, which in turn arises from the Nervus trigeminus[^1].
Anatomy
The nervus nasopalatinus passes through the Foramen sphenopalatinum and runs along the nasal septum through the nasal cavity to its floor, reaching the hard palate through the Canalis incisivus.
Function
In addition to the septum, the nervus nasopalatinus supplies the anterior third of the palatal mucosa as well as the incisors.
