The musculi intertransversarii are part of the intrinsic back muscles.
Anatomy
Cervical
The musculi intertransversarii are located lateral to the Musculi interspinales. The musculi intertransversarii posteriores cervicis connect the adjacent posterior tubercles of the transverse processes of C2–C7. The musculi intertransversarii cervicis are innervated by the dorsal rami of C1–C6[^1].
Lumbar
The 4 musculi intertransversarii mediales lumborum connect the mammillary or accessory processes of adjacent lumbar vertebrae. They are innervated by the dorsal rami of L1 to L4[^1].
