Knee–Heel Test

Last edit by Alaric Steinmetz on

Synonyms: KHV

The finger-to-nose test is a neurological test that can be used to assess goal-directed movements of the lower extremities.

Procedure

The knee–heel test is performed with the patient lying down. The patient brings the heel to the contralateral kneecap and then slowly and accurately moves it down along the contralateral shin.

Interpretation

If the movement is not performed smoothly and in a straight line, or if the patient misses the contralateral kneecap with the knee, this is referred to as Dysmetria.
