The inferior gluteal nerve is a peripheral nerve that arises from the sacral plexus and contains nerve fibers from the spinal cord segments L5-S2[^1].

Course

The inferior gluteal nerve exits the pelvis through the infrapiriform foramen.

Function

The inferior gluteal nerve supplies the gluteus maximus muscle via several branches[^1].
