Frankfurt horizontal plane

The Frankfurt horizontal plane is defined by the line connecting the inferior margin of the orbit with the porion.

Use

The line is used particularly in neuroradiology. When planning neurosurgical procedures, the Frankfurt horizontal plane correlates with the lowest point of the middle cranial fossa.
