Facet joint infiltration is a pain intervention procedure for the diagnosis and treatment of pain originating from the facet joints. In neurosurgery, it is used primarily for chronic axial neck or back pain when facet joint–related pain syndrome is suspected.
The injection is performed either directly intra-articularly into the facet joint or periarticularly at the supplying nerve branches, the medial branches of the dorsal ramus, which is then referred to as a Medial Branch Block.

A facet joint infiltration is usually performed under X-ray guidance[^2] or CT guidance[^1].
