DOTATOC therapy is a form of radiolabeled peptide therapy. DOTATOC therapy exploits the property of tumors that express somatostatin receptors, as can occur, for example, in Meningiomas.
Administration
DOTATOC, also known as edotreotide, is an analogue of somatostatin that is coupled to a radioactive nuclide, such as 90-yttrium, for therapy and subsequently administered intravenously. The therapy may be administered in several cycles.
Neurosurgical relevance
DOTATOC therapy is used in neurosurgery, for example, in patients with aggressive courses of meningiomas that cannot be adequately treated surgically.
