Cloverleaf skull

Last edit by Alaric Steinmetz on

The cloverleaf skull is a rare malformation syndrome in the context of craniosynostosis.

Background

The name cloverleaf skull is derived from the typical trilobed skull shape[^2], which results from premature ossification of the cranial sutures.

Etiology

The cloverleaf skull syndrome can occur in isolation or as part of an Apert syndrome or thanatophoric dysplasia[^1].
