Claustrum

Last edit by Alaric Steinmetz on

The claustrum is a thin layer of gray matter between the Capsula externa and Capsula extrema in the telencephalon.

Anatomy

The claustrum increases in diameter in the anterior and caudal directions. The claustrum is approximately the same extent as the insular cortex and has a special relationship with the cerebral cortex, with which it is reciprocally connected by numerous fibers[^1].
