A Baker cyst is a cyst located in the popliteal fossa.
Etiology
The Baker cyst is thought to represent an enlargement of the Bursa subtendinea musculi semimembranosi[^1].
Neurosurgical relevance
Depending on the size of the Baker cyst, this may, for example, lead to compression of the Common peroneal nerve or the Tibial nerve[^2].
