The anterior perforated substance is an area on the surface of the base of the brain behind the olfactory trigone, which is perforated by numerous arterial branches and therefore bears this name.

Anatomy

The recurrent artery usually arises from the proximal segment of the anterior cerebral artery and enters the frontobasal brain parenchyma via the anterior perforated substance[^1].
