The BNI (Barrow Neurological Institute) classification for grading facial sensory disturbances is a clinical classification into four different grades and was published in 2000[^1].

Grade

Description

Grade I

No facial numbness.

Grade II

Mild facial numbness, not bothersome to the patient.

Grade III

Facial numbness, somewhat bothersome to the patient.

Grade IV

Facial numbness, very impairing to the patient.
