Thalamic Hand

Synonyms: thalamic hand

The term thalamic hand refers to a postural anomaly of the hand.

Clinical Presentation

In thalamic hand, there is pronation of the forearm, flexion of the hand and fingers at the metacarpophalangeal joint as well as extension of the fingers at the other joints with involuntary motor restlessness due to reduction of proprioception.

Etiology

The cause of thalamic hand is presumed to be a dysfunction in the thalamocortical connections[^1].
