The superior anastomotic vein (Trolard's vein) is a superficial cerebral vein. The superior anastomotic vein connects the superficial middle cerebral vein with the superior sagittal sinus and thus drains venous blood from the region of the Sylvian fissure.
Anatomy
The superior anastomotic vein is the largest anastomotic vein running along the cortical surface of the frontal and parietal lobes. The superior anastomotic vein usually drains in an anterior direction, against the venous blood flow, into the superior sagittal sinus[^1]. The superior anastomotic vein can also be duplicated as an anatomical variant[^1].
