Opisthotonus

Opisthotonus is a spasm that primarily affects the extensor muscles of the back.

Clinical presentation

Opisthotonus causes marked backward tilting of the head and hyperextension of the trunk and extremities, resulting in hyperlordosis of the entire body with backward arching of the legs[^1].
