Myoclonus manifests as sudden, rhythmic or arrhythmic jerks of the trunk or limb muscles, which may occur focally, multifocally, or in a generalized pattern. Contraction and relaxation follow one another rapidly. The intensity of the jerks may vary.
Etiology
The causes of myoclonus are highly diverse and may, among other things, indicate myelopathy.
Treatment
The primary treatment strategy for myoclonus is treatment of the underlying cause.
