The facial canal is a bone canal in the petrous part of the temporal bone through which the facial nerve runs.

Anatomy

The facial nerve canal runs between the internal acoustic meatus and stylomastoid foramen and is divided into a tympanic and mastoid portion. Along its course, the facial nerve canal makes a bend and forms the external genu of the facial nerve, where the geniculate ganglion is located[^1].
