The dorsal nasal artery is a terminal branch of the ophthalmic artery, which runs along the nasal dorsum.
Anatomy
The dorsal nasal artery originates above the medial palpebral ligament from the ophthalmic artery. After giving off a small branch to the upper part of the lacrimal sac, it splits into two branches. The first branch crosses the nasal root and anastomoses with the angular artery, while the second runs along the nasal dorsum, supplying the overlying skin and subcutaneous tissue. It forms anastomoses with the artery of the same name on the opposite side and with the lateral nasal artery from the facial artery[^1].
